About Me

My photo
I love music like a fat kid loves cake. It's the only true way of expressing the muddled up crap we call feelings. Idealistically, I'm a realist. Realistically, I'm an idealist. Overall, I think too much and too philosophically. Venture into the stream of insanity I call my consciousness and take it, as everything, with a grain of salt. The size (and type) of that grain is yours to decide.

More random quotes

Remember the new thing I'm doing? Yeah, this is a continuation. I came up with these while discussing Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard. These are in order of their conception.

- Life is complexly simple - why should we write it any different?

- A story is just that - a story. The more we read into it, the faster it loses it's meaning.

- A good author paints the perfect picture for his reader to follow, leaving him satisfied yet unprovoked. The true author is one who gives his reader a blueprint, urging him to imagine his own picture, thus making the work personal. It gives the reader the best gift - the gift of exploring himself within the work.

- Talk as if you were to live for eternity. Write as though you may die tomorrow.

- Some experiences cannot be described in words. It would be a folly to try. As soon as you do, the experiences disappear in a jumble of meaningless words.

- The soul of an author is imprisoned in his mind. His writings are his attempt at an effort to release it.

  1. Can you explain this one:

Talk as if you were to live for eternity. Write as though you may die tomorrow.

Just curious to see what you will say =)

  2. It means whatever you want it to. I'd hate to narrow your imagination. To me, it means that you shouldn't talk a lot. Since I am a prolific writer, I understand that a lot of things you say can be offensive or hurtful to some people (specially if you don't provide context), even if you don't mean it like that. So instead of saying it out loud, write your thoughts down so you end up speaking your mind without harming others because people will only read it if they want to and if they do end up taking offense, they will understand that since you are giving a context, there is always room for interpretation and the reader can agree to disagree with your writing. :) I hope that made sense!

  3. Also, it could mean that you have an eternity to talk so don't talk a lot now - you will have time later. But you may not have time to write it all down since you talk/think faster than you write. Since I am a writer, I value the written word more than the spoken word because the written word is forever while the spoken word is forgotten as soon as it is uttered. With the written word, you have the ability to make changes before you publish and therefore have time enough to think of the consequences whereas when you speak, you often do so without thinking.
